[Release] Sky Editor's Save Editor: Beta 4.0.5

The Sky Editor's save editor has been updated to 4.0.5.

Notable changes:

  • Re-added the ability to edit the moves of Active Pokemon in EoS.  Please note that the game will overwrite any changes you make if you're in a dungeon.  You currently must exit the dungeon before making any lasting changes.
  • Fixed Sp. Attack and Defense stats being swapped.

[Release] Sky Editor's Save Editor: Beta 4.0.3

The save editing part of Sky Editor Beta 4.0.3 is now released.

Notable changes from v3.2:

  • Item Storage for Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Team is now editable.
  • Original player and partner in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky can be edited (can be observed at the beginning of the Bidoof's Wish special episode).
  • Stored Pokemon in all supported save files can now be imported and exported as individual Pokémon files.
  • Lots of bug fixes and internal changes
Unfortunately, some of the bells and whistles available in previous versions are still in development, like ROM editing, cheat generation, the DeSmuMe integration, plugin support, and automatic updates.  If there's a particular feature you'd like to see in the next release, or if you encounter any bugs, please post your feedback in the comments.

Coming Soon: Item Storage Editing for Red/Blue Rescue Team Saves

I still have some finishing touches to apply before I can release Sky Editor, so in the mean time, here's a screenshot of item storage editing for Red/Blue Rescue Team saves.  This feature will work on both North American and European saves.

Status Update & PKHeX Integration

For the past few weeks I've been rewriting the save editing portion of Sky Editor to use MVVM, which is very nice from a development standpoint, making all the code much more maintainable.  I hope to have an updated version of the Mystery Dungeon save stuffs ready soon™ (I don't have a time frame yet unfortunately), and in the mean time, I'll periodically post updates, previews, maybe even some betas containing the coolest new things.

Because Sky Editor is plugin-based, other developers can write plugins to let Sky Editor develop edit more things.  While my next release will only edit PMD: Rescue Team and PMD: Explorers, I also plan to release a version sometime in the future that will have PKHeX integrated into it.  Combine that with the fact that PKHeX itself is getting active updates to support Generations 3 through 6, and Sky Editor could eventually become the go-to editor for all Pokemon save files.  Granted it will take a while before that happens, I just have my eyes towards the future.

Regarding the status of the update, all I have left is a little more refactoring and re-enabling opening and saving Pokemon files to and from disk.  Because Sky Editor can edit pretty much anything, I'll post a poll at that time to ask what you want to see in Sky Editor next.  This poll will have everything from "Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon ROM editing" to "Finalize the plugin format so others can write plugins".  If you can't wait for the poll, feel free to say what you want in the comments, or in one of the official threads over at Project Pokemon or GBAtemp.

While everyone's waiting on the next version of Sky Editor that will make European PMD: Rescue Team saves as supported as the North American ones, here's a screenshot of what happened when I integrated PKHeX with Sky Editor.  The below UI was designed for Mystery Dungeon saves, but works rather nicely when I write a little bit of code to wrap PKHeX.  There's surprisingly little more work that would need to be done in order to get item editing fully functioning.
